Worth the price, especially if you use needles every day

These are the perfect size to put one in your travel bag, and work great neatly clipping the end of your needle off and storing it safely inside every time. They are easy to use, just put the tip into a hole on the side and press, not much effort required and you won't be sticking the end of your finger. The price may seem a little high, but the do last for years even if you're using them every day.

Handy, portable, good value

When traveling or spending a day running errands, I carry insulin -- which means I either have to carry a sharps container also or carry used needles/syringes home for later disposal.

This handy little tool makes it much simpler... it's small enough to drop into a purse or pocket, and I can clip and store just the needle, allowing me to dispose of the syringe in the trash without fear of sanitation workers poking themselves.

The capacity of this is pretty astounding, too -- it'll hold over a year's worth of needles based on my regular usage, even if I used it full time.

Use is simple... press the sides together at the bottom to open it, insert the needle in the metal tab with the hole, and press down on the handle. The needle is clipped off and stored inside and the unit is back in the closed position.

From what I've read, some locations require the used syringes (even sans needle) to be disposed of as a biohazard, so verify the regulations where you are. Either way, storing the used needles securely is still a good idea.

Convenient sharps disposal.

I hate the big bulky sharps containers that fill up so quickly and take up space in my house. Now that said. I can save the price of this, grab a pair of pliers and I can get a closer cut than this tool does BUT then I have to handle the needle if I don't cut it directly into the existing sharps container that I have. On the one hand I like this idea because I could probably take the rest of my life before that container would be filled with just needle tips (although I have some needles that the tips are removable and while they take up more space than just the metal needle in the container, they are still a fraction of the size of a whole syringe.
The beauty of this tool is that it snips the tip and the sharp metal end drops into the body of it which supposedly holds up to 3000 needle tips. This one already had one inside so I'm assuming they do a test on each cutter for quality control. It does leave a tiny bump of metal on the syringe, but you would have to press it into your skin and drag it across it to do any damage. And even with that you can still put the protective cap back on the syringe before disposing of it.
It's small enough to sit unobtrusively on shelf or in a drawer until needed and while on one hand I would like to be able to empty it into a larger sharps container and keep using it rather than having to replace it when it is full, I get that if they make it so that it can open, someone is bound to accidentally do so and create a disaster.
And for those who the picture isn't really clear for. It arrives in the closed position. You squeeze the back end together to pop it up. Insert the needle on the side and then press down. It's that simple. When you press down it locks back into the closed position.

Easy convenient way to safely store used insulin needles

Why did you pick this product vs others?:
This is a must have device if you are insulin dependent. Check with your local are codes to be sure you can use this, but it makes used syringes and pen needles safe by clipping off the sharp needle portion. For travel it’s great because even if you have to hold onto the syringes they are safe and can’t poke you are anyone else. This one is a bit larger than the ones I’ve used in the past, which does take up more space in my carry case, but it’s still ok. This one claims to hold up to 3000 needles. My other one states up to 1,500 needles, but I’ve been using it over two years, three or four needles per day, and it’s still working and holding, so well over 2,000. This one should hold a lot more. There is something rattling around inside of it. I see it has a steel ball. I don’t know if it is supposed to rattle or not, but it works fine. These clippers are great. Large sharps boxes are hard to get rid of. Our local fire departments no longer accept them. As long as there is no needle, we can dispose of the empty syringe, so this takes vertually no space.

Perfect solution to insulin needle disposal

this is so easy to use I have no clue how it took so long for this to be invented.. so you snip off your insulin needle.... and when this is full,, buy a new one. Great idea. Great value for the price and is well made, seems durable. Does what it says it does. Very functional, buy a few and keep in your car or bathroom etc., great small size, discreet

Why Safe Disposal Matters?

Over 8 million U.S. households generate billions of used needles annually. Improperly discarded sharps pose serious risks to waste workers, family members, and pets, spreading HIV, hepatitis, and other infections. The EPA, CDC, and state health agencies emphasize that home-generated sharps must be clipped, securely contained, and disposed of through approved channels.

What is a Needle Clipper?

A Needle Clipper is a convenient, easy-to-use device designed to safely cut and securely store used small needles, such as insulin pen needles and similar injection needles commonly used at home. It helps individuals who self-inject medications—including diabetics, caregivers, and other healthcare users—manage sharps waste safely and hygienically. By clipping and sealing needles immediately after use, it reduces the risk of accidental needle-stick injuries, prevents environmental contamination, and lowers the chance of infection from improper disposal, in compliance with U.S. federal and state sharps disposal regulations.
